16th to 18th October 2026

the £3 challenge…

Join us on 16th to 18th October 2026 to help raise vital funds, while highlighting the realities of living with food insecurity.

The challenge is simple:

Feed yourself on a food budget of just £3 per day for 48 hours between 16th and 18th October and donate what you would have spent on food. Why not also ask friends, family, and colleagues to sponsor you, and start a conversation to raise awareness about food insecurity.

The challenge is a short-term exercise in budgeting and solidarity. It cannot recreate the reality of living with food insecurity or the wider pressures that poverty can bring. Instead it gives us an opportunity to reflect on the choices we make when money is limited and to raise vital funds to support people who face those choices every day. For thousands of households, stretching a very limited food budget is not a challenge for one weekend, but a daily reality.
By taking part, you'll help raise awareness and much needed funds.

The £3 Challenge is an invitation to:

  • Help fund practical, welcoming community meals for families in need across Norwich.
  • Stand in solidarity with those living with food insecurity.
  • Use your voice and networks to raise awareness.

Why it Matters:

Food insecurity affects millions of people across the UK and can have lasting impacts on health, wellbeing, and opportunities in life. It can affect children's physical and mental development with life-long consequences.

What is Food insecurity?

Food insecurity is the limited or uncertain ability to acquire enough nutritious food for an active, healthy life. It spans a spectrum from anxiety about affording food, through reduced diet quality and disrupted eating patterns, to outright hunger. In 2026, UK data show that food insecurity affects millions of households (1/8) and disproportionately impacts families with children (1/6), single parents, disabled households, and those on low incomes. The funds raised through this challenge will directly support local families and strengthen our community. At the same time, it will stimulate important conversations about food insecurity and the long-lasting impact it has on individuals and families across Norwich
